Truck Drivers Job – A tough One
The first image of truck drivers that comes to our mind is that of a shabby looking person who hardly makes his two-ends meet. Today, if we are to analyse truck driver’s world over, we’ll find they are found in different environments and conditions. For example in South-Asia, truck drivers are not exactly looked up by the society, whereas in a country like UK, where they are locally called lorry drivers, their job is taken as a service to the society. Truck drivers can be of two types.First, ones who own their truck and work on their own, or secondly, those who work in a specific company as employed for logistics’ purposes. The first type of drivers is found to lease their services for a fee. These are required by those people who do not require frequent services of the truckers, whereas the second category of drivers are employed in organisations for which the work is widespread over geographical distances and are often required. Truck drivers are often required to obtain special licences to drive their vehicles. Truckers are said to do a very tiring job. They often drive late into the night finishing their job and work long hours to make money.
More than anything a truck driver is required to be a tough person, because it is not easy handling a vehicle as huge as a truck. The pay for a truck driver is not so handsome in a non-developed or a developing country. His pay largely depends on the number of mile he has travelled because he is paid per mile of the journey covered and also on some other variables like distance, time, driving conditions etc. A truck driver’s life isn’t easy and his best friend is perhaps road-signs and maps. It would be correct to say that a truck driver is a necessity for today’s wide span market, but we need to look after this valuable resource for future too.
